SKEA serves the public schools in South Kona.
Teachers in those
schools are invited to make project requests at any time during
the school year, although early requests are easier to fund and schedule.
Our artists are able to teach lessons in their art forms, or integrate the
arts into something students are studying in the regular classroom curriculum.
SKEA’s role is to match up teachers and artists, provide assistance with curriculum
integration, fund the artist’s classroom time, and provide specialized materials
not generally available in the classroom.
Art of Learning Program Director Kathy McKown, is
available on LotusNotes if you would like to bounce ideas around. These are some
of the things currently being offered by our artists.
Feel free to ask about other
possibilities as you think about your curriculum.
