Society for Kona's Education & Art

Skea at Sunset

About SKEA

Our Mission

With a focus on South Kona, the Society for Kona’s Education and Art serves the Hawaii Island community by providing arts and educational opportunities through programs, projects, and events that contribute to a vibrant community.

A Place for creating, moving, singing, playing, and connecting.

SKEA was founded in 1981 by a group of young families who wanted to provide education in the arts for their own and others’ children. The Honaunau site has been our home base ever since and provides a beautiful gathering place for the community.

We love it here-the large grassy yard, and the historic buildings (built in the early 1900’s) that once housed the Japanese Language School and the Headmaster’s cottage. It represents Old Hawaii and holds our vision for a thriving South Kona community.
