Rent Our Facility

Our site is available to rent for classes, workshops, events, and other activities that fit within our mission. If you are not a current member, it will be required before your reservation is confirmed. Please read the Site and Programming Information below, and click Facility Use Request to make a request.

Deposits may be 100% refunded up to two weeks before your event; if you need to cancel after that date, a partial refund may be possible.

Site and Programming Information

Description of the Facility

  • Our facility offers two rooms, a long front porch, and a large landscaped yard. The large empty ‘Big Room’ is suitable for a variety of activities, and a smaller ‘Art Room’ has a long counter and two sinks. Fifty Folding chairs and 9 tables (6’ x 30”) are included in the rental. Two bathrooms are located just behind the building. For larger events such as weddings, we can also offer a hospitality package that includes tents, lights, 14-48” round tables, chairs, tablecloths, coffee pots, wine glasses, silverware, and other supplies.
  • We are located in a residential neighborhood. Entertainment must be completed by 9 pm and the facility closed by 10 pm. Loud music is not allowed. We have long term tenants who rent studio space for their work during the day. Please be respectful and keep noise to a minimum.
  • Prohibited activities: no smoking and no candles or open flame of any kind near the buildings. No illegal drugs.
  • Please note that any advertising for an event must not imply sponsorship by SKEA, unless arranged beforehand.

Parking

  • There are three parking areas: that can accommodate approximately 30 cars.
  • To assure maximum parking space, please be sure cars are parked in a mauka/makai direction in the back lot.
  • The “No Parking” zone on the highway must be observed. We have some orange traffic cones for this area, please make sure they are in place. Vehicles parked in this zone inhibit the visibility of cars pulling out and create a serious traffic hazard.
  • Parking is not allowed on either side of the access road. Please do not park on any neighbor properties.

Bathrooms

  • Bathrooms are located at the south makai side of the schoolhouse.
  • Please check at the end of your program /event and make sure the bathrooms are left clean.

Clean Up – Please read carefully

  • All building users are responsible for leaving the building and grounds clean and in the order in which they were found. We all want to have a clean and organized space to use. SKEA’s resources for upkeep are limited. The only way to keep the facility clean on a daily basis is for everyone who uses the building to do more than they think is necessary. Consider enlisting the help of your participants. Many hands make light work.
  • Cleaning supplies are available for your use.
  • Please sweep the area you’ve used; damp mop if necessary. Wipe down mirrors in the big room.
  • Please sweep the lanai and stairs.
  • Please check at the end of your program and make sure the bathrooms are left clean.
  • You are responsible for removing ALL your own trash from the premises

Opening & Locking Up

  • Your room combination will be provided upon payment. These combinations are confidential and may not be given out.
  • Please return any furniture you use to its original location.
  • Items brought with you must be removed at the end of the event.
  • Please be sure all windows are closed, lights are off, fans are off, and doors are locked.

Damages

  • Damages are the responsibility of the organizer.
  • A $100 refundable security deposit is required which will be returned if the facility is left in satisfactory condition. Deposits will be refunded if your event is canceled at least two weeks in advance.

Newsletter and Publicity

  • We can help you market your function, please talk to the office staff about this service. SKEA produces a newsletter, and maintains a website, which lists events, classes and workshops. We are happy to display your flyer or poster on our bulletin boards.
  • Please Note: Unless an event is specifically sponsored by SKEA, any advertising for an event must not imply sponsorship by SKEA.
  • SKEA is a 501(c )3 non-profit organization, and as such, we maintain a neutral status in politics and religion. The SKEA site is available for rent, as a venue for community meetings, classes, and cultural events that align with our mission. Views expressed by independent users of our facility do not represent those of SKEA and its Board of Directors.

Fee Schedule

  • The event organizer must be a member of SKEA. Join here, or at the time of rental.
  • The organizer is responsible for payment of facility use fees, payable to SKEA.
  • A $100 refundable security deposit is required which will be returned if the facility is left in satisfactory condition. Deposits will be refunded if your event is canceled at least two weeks in advance.
  • A 10% discount on the price of the rental is available for non-profit organizations.
  • All rentals include the use of the yard and parking lots.

Entire Site:

  • $250/day or $60/hour (includes nine 6 ft. tables and 50 folding chairs.)
  • $675/day for entire site + hospitality package (4 ft. round tables, 6 ft. oblong tabes, folding chairs, wine glasses, tablecloths and napkins, flatware, and serving items)

Big Room or Art Room:

  • These rental rates are for one room only. If you need both rooms, please see the fee for the entire site.
  • One-time rental: $35/hour
  • Ongoing weekly rental: $18/hour, paid monthly. At times SKEA may need to cancel your class for an event; this type of cancellation may be deducted from your monthly payment.
  • Ongoing monthly rental: $25/hour, paid monthly.
